MY LAST GOODBYE

You heard the record the same old one
Every single day
Smoking like a chimney pot
Into the ashtray
A dog eared copy of salinger lying on your lap
You reeked of sweat and everything stale
As you entered into a nap
I shut the door, slammed it loud and said my last goodbye
You just didn’t stir, nor move a limb knowing it’s a lie

I hate myself for being me
This sad , broken soul
Its not him , Its not you, its all about me
I know this just isn’t right
But baby let me be
Hard to tell, sad to hear,
Its plain crazy

You hang around with the hip crowd every single night
Go with them in their beaten truck
While I lie here all alone
You know its been five long years
Of a big one night stand
Too many doubts, too much guilt
I am uncomfortably numb.
Stupid nothings, rock and roll, jokes that a’int funny
But I guess I know if I cross the line
You wont be there honey

I hate myself for being me
This sad , broken soul
Its not him , Its not you, its all about me
I know this just isn’t right
But baby let me be
Hard to tell, sad to hear,
Its plain crazy

We fight about bad theories, grammar and rhyme
Your work gets six days and Sunday is mine
Yes I remember the funky joint packed with a hundred heads
Metal lovers, banging their heads to some pseudo intellect crap
I sit with you with a glass wine, while you talk and scream aloud
You say “come baby lets join them” the happening maddening crowd
Cronies along with a couple of drinks you are all set to go
On a trip at my expense as your friends laugh and cheer
Keep a straight face, it ought to end
Or is it just the beginning
Clock strikes twelve. The crowd yells more
Oh death! it’s a long long night
Finally I take the tab cause there is nothing else to do
But a wave of self-indignation passes through
And I scream aloud and say my last goodbye
While u sit there with that drunken smirk
Knowing I’ll be back.
