It was a time my love
Of thunder showers and rains
Drenched, we walk side by side
Longing to come closer
Yet painfully shy
How we stood under the tree
That sprinkled water roots to the ground
Like strangers
Not saying a word
Trying hard to silence the wild beat of our hearts
We stood trembling under that broken umbrella
That showered stray flowers like welcoming poems
Just then,
I glance at you and your eyelids droop
I do the same , you pretend to look away
We repeat this time and again
Back and forth
But the path of words
Were tightly glued by silence
I notice raindrops trickling down your pale face
Hand you my kerchief
Imagining it to be a cloth of gold
You timidly take it from my hands
Wipe your face
And hand it back to me
I find some courage finally
And ask you slyly for some way to keep it from drying….
You chuckle quietly!
How you looked so beautiful in rain
Oh yes! That was a time my love
Of thunder showers and rains
